Abstract:ABSTRACT: Objective? To explore the status quo of readiness for hospital discharge, pain degree and its correlation in patients with lumbar disc herniation (LDH). Methods? Totally 196 LDH patients were investigated with Readiness for Hospital Discharge Scale (RHDS) and Numerical Rating Scale for pain (NRS). Data obtained was analyzed by Pearson correlation analysis. Results? The total score of RHDS in LDH patients was (94.17±8.56), and average scores of each dimension from high to low was person status, excepted support and coping ability.? The score of NRS was (6.10±0.30) at hospital admission and was (1.70±0.50) 4 hours before hospital discharge, with a significant difference (t=1.892,P<0.05) . The total score of RHDS and scores of each dimension were negatively correlated with the NRS score of pain 4 hours before hospital discharge (P<0.05). Conclusions? The LDH patients had a high level of readiness for hospital discharge and a low level of pain relief before discharge. The medical staff should pay more attention to the readiness of patients with lumbar disc herniation, help them to relieve pain and promote their recovery.
